Polygonatum kingianum

Description

One of the most exciting plants in my woodland, with willowly somewhat lax stems to 5 ft. carrying whorls of long tendril-tipped leaves along its entire length which will clasp and climb onto adjacent vegetation. In summer, dramatic red tubular flowers edged in green are offered in large axillary clusters resulting in rather enormous red fruit. This is one of the best of all SolomonÆs Seals and should be much better known. Shade to partial shade in humus-rich, evenly moist soil.
