Description
Cotinus is one of the most lovely plants in our garden. It is an absolute must as a pairing with hydrangea, both in the garden bed and when cutting stems to display indoors. This gem was hybridized by Peter Drummer at Hiller Nurseries in Winchester, United Kingdom. It's a cross between our native species C. obovatus and C. 'Velvet Cloak'. The new leaves emerge intense wine-red then mature to a beguiling dusky reddish-blue. Summer brings an explosion of large panicles covered in deep pink florets. Autumn follows with a show of bright orange-red foliage color. Place in partial to full shade and allow to mature to a large shrub.
