Description
This imposing American native has the largest leaves of all northern temperate plants in the New World. Banana-like, oval leaves to grow to an amazing 36 inches, glistening light green on the surface and silvery gray beneath. Sweetly fragrant, creamy-white blooms follow in early summer, forming huge 12 inch shallow cups. Grows 30 feet or more over many years, for full sun or light shade in any humus-rich well-drained soil.
