Description
The hardiest of banana species adds a huge tropical punch to a temperate garden, with leaves expanding to 8 feet in length on a plant that grows to 15-20 feet in a single season. Even if cut to the ground during cold winters, it will return undeterred, reaching 20 feet in height. In warm climates blossoms and small bananas will form in late summer on mature plants, adding outstanding drama and excitement. In cold climates consider protecting it as you do cannas.
