[Tsuga canadensis 'Lewisii'] I was introduced to this very fine cultivar of the Eastern Hemlock early on in my gardening career and our garden specimen was one of the plants I moved to Heronswood with after purchasing this property in 1987. Deep green foliage is carried along densely produced branches, growing less than 4 inches/year, ultimately producing a flat-topped specimen to 8 ft. over many years. Excellent as a low-maintenance companion in the foundation planting, in full sun or partial shade, in any soil with some summer irrigation.
