Tsuga canadensis 'Moon Frost'

Description

Like frost on a moonlit landscape, this compact and globe-shaped hemlock is coated in white especially on the new growth but fades only to a bit more green toward the center. As the weather turns cold the frost becomes blushed pink like a winter sunset. With age, this dwarf conifer broadens and its growth rate actually increases somewhat but it never assumes a tree-like form. Appreciates some shade during the hottest part of the day, in moist but well-drained soils.
