Description
A color breakthrough for monkshoods, with powdery-pink hoods hiding a deeper-colored throat, carried in loose spikes on sturdy stems that rarely require staking. Piet Oudolf, advocate of the "New Wave" school of gardening, created this new color sensation by crossing the bicolor monkshood (Aconitum cammarum) with the Carmichael's monkshood (A. carmichaelii). A classic addition to the woodland garden, this thrives in moist but well-drained soil especially when shaded from the hottest sun of the day. Also known as wolfsbane, monkshoods are deer and rabbit (and wolf, and tiger, and dog) resistant due to the toxicity of all parts of the plant.
