This southern version of the Northern Maidenhair, Adiantum pedatum, can remain evergreen in mild climates, while offering its handsomely textured fronds, pinkish blushed when first emerging in spring, only throughout the growing season in more temperate climates. A. hispidulum is adaptable to indoor cultivation as well, in fact, the entire concept of cultivating hardy ferns indoors, in bright, cool, conditions, is not monopolized upon in the U.S. as much as it should. Partially shaded sites in cool, evenly moist soil.
