The hardiest of the loropetalums, this magical 6-footer produces deep burgundy to purple-black foliage from spring to fall, and, come late summer, mounded fringe-like flowers in fuchsia. The distinctive blackish maroon foliage, on exhibit from spring into fall, makes a great accent in the border. If sheltered somewhat in Zone 6, this is the only winter-hardy loropetalum (though it remains a smaller shrub in this zone). Likes full sun to part-shade and soil that's moist, organically-enriched and well-drained.
