Trillium grandiflorum

Description

Trilliums tend to elevate shade gardens into a much grander plane. Magnificent in white, and in its size, this native perennial peaks in bloom in spring, with solitary flowers atop whorls of 3 leafy bracts. Petals can reach 1.5-2.5" long, ringing bright yellow anthers, and turn soft pink as blooms age. Leaves and stems are dark green, lasting till autumn. Protect these priceless plants from deer, which find trilliums delectable munching and much preferred food.
