Angelica gigas

Description

A dramatic accent plant with tropical-looking divided foliage, and distinctive deep-purple, broccoli-like flowers atop thick burgundy stems that rise to 6 feet. At Fordhook Farm we set it off against finer-textured plants like Panicum 'Dewey Blue' along the stream outside our Kitchen Garden. Biennial, but will self-sow. Thrives in moist soil. Provide partial shade in the South.
