From our original collections of this species from Sichuan Province in 1996, we are still thrilled with its performance in our woodland and containerized plantings alike. Robust, bamboo-like stems rise in early spring sheathed in bright bracts, ultimately unfolding with glistening green ovate leaves and dense clusters of yellow flowers, rising to a full 6 ft. or more in height. The resultant clusters of berries ripen to a pleasing deep blue black and are carried throughout the winter months amidst the foliage, which remains unblemished. We cut these back in late winter for a quick makeover. Truly outstanding in containers. Partially shaded positions are best in evenly moist, humusy soil.
Ships in a 4" inch container. Approx. 3 1/4" x 4 1/4" x 3 7/8" (25.8 cu. In. soil volume).
