Epimedium (Fairy Wings) Plants

Several species of Epimedium are ideal as drought tolerant, evergreen groundcovers while others provide some of the most precious of spring flowers to the garden. Numerous species and hybrids emerge in early season with their foliage handsomely mottled or emargined in red. The only caveat associated with Epimedium is the importance of cutting the foliage back in late winter before growth resumes. This will allow a freer enjoyment of the floral display as well as rejuvenate the foliage for the subsequent growing season. This must be performed before the Epimedium flower buds begin to emerge.
