This uniquely-colored Itoh hybrid comes to us from Wisconsin breeder Roger Anderson. It's outstanding. The semi-double flowers a palette of golden yellow, orange, and red conjure a coppery effect. With its fairly large, domed shape, it's like a tree peony in habit. But then it's like a herbaceous peony, dying back to the ground in autumn, reappearing in early spring. Beautiful in arrangements and, once the first flowers are cut, it's more apt to rebloom later in the season. Thanks to its hybrid parentage, it's extremely vigorous and botrytis-resistant. A cross of herbaceous Paeonia lactiflora and the tree peony species P. lemoinei, this selection is long-lived, provided you plant it indeeply-enriched, well-drained soil.
