A hardy peony from the mountains of northwestern China, it produces bold clumps of broad leaves to 3 ft., with each stem capped in elegant, single cups of glistening pink in spring, resulting later in startling seed pods which open to reveal sapphire blue fruit nestled in a brilliant red purse.
