Description
An evergreen species to 20 ft. with glossy, broad, trifoliate leaves and purple flowers in spring, resulting occasionally in purple plum-like fruit, filled with a gelatinous edible mass. Cultivate in partial shade while providing a cool and somewhat moist root run. This has long been successfully grown in the greater Puget Sound region, though far from being considered common.
