Description
I collected this species while botanizing the chilly slopes of Mt. Daisusetsu in C. Hokkaido in the autumn of 2001, where it was common at 1700Æ elevation. Robust stems to 4 ft. carried very distinctive tri-lobed foliage and terminated in very large panicles of yellow flowers opening from lavender buds. Yet unblossomed, this simply had the look of a very garden-worthy plant, though with the Meadow Rues, I seldom find otherwise. Full sun or light shade in any soil.
