Description
Gardeners tend to take Sorbaria for granted. Durable, yes. Cold-hardy, yes. And, yes, there is summertime's attractive foliage and impressive flower display. It seems a shame, then, that Sorbaria has been relegated to hedgerows and railroad right-of-ways. With this fine new selection, Sorbaria is having its Eliza Doolittle moment. This hybrid has all of Sorbaria's best attributes. The pinkish-red compound foliage unfurls in spring along deep pink stems and remains fern-like all summer. In midsummer come the large sprays of creamy white flowers. But now the plant has a better-behaved, more ladylike, dwarf form. Perfection. Serves beautifully as a low hedge or summer accent. Easy to grow in any well-drained soil.
